Rod's Summary
I began the week with
the contemplation of interconnectedness...the Butterfly Effect...wholes
&
parts. So, what do "complete" and "incomplete" really mean?
The idea arose that the Universe is, indeed, complete in every respect,
always
has been, always will be, could not be otherwise. The Universe reveals
its universal
completeness in space & time & X. But Consciousness, on the
other hand,
is always arising as an event-horizon, a crystal Now that emerges from
a fuzzy
past and moves into an unknown future.
In the
complete
incompleteness of consciousness I can see only local unfolding. In
universal
terms the Universe is complete, but in consciousness terms the Universe
appears
to arise out of chaos.
Which leads
to
"knowing." Ways of Knowing. Knowing about the box from inside the box
(one's culture, for example), and knowing about the box from outside
the box.
Tacit knowing & analytic knowing. Neither is complete. Cannot be
complete.
Which leads
to the
question: "What is the purpose of the Working Hypothesis?" Is it
merely an alternate route to feeling good? A path to enlightenment? A
way of
opening up to the world? A way to discover consistency in an
inconsistent
lilfe? A way to realize personal authenticity?
Or am I just
playing
head trips. Playing with words. Playing with concepts. Playing with
paradoxes.
I know I've
already
passed beyond feel-good. And I know I don't have a clue what
enlightenment
means. Unless it means opening to the world, which is where I'm
heading, slowly
but surely. Perhaps what I'm seeking is a consistent, authentic way of
being
with the Working Hypothesis, of being with the world, of fully
acknowledging
& accepting & cherishing the complete incompleteness of
consciousness.
