Rod's Summary

Hello to all the participants, Piet, Maria, Nicole, Jake, Miles, and Frank!

Establishing a new routine always entails some adjustment, so first I had to find "space" for the meditation as well as to discover the mode of practice that would work for me. I quickly evolved a post-breakfast, pre-computer slot and found that I could easily drop into a Vipassana mindful state for exploring the WH of Completeness. Each meditation seemed to quickly generate a theme, followed by elaboration. Here are the seven themes that I explored:

Day 1:

disruption of my normal routine

Day 2:

what I have to do get to where I'm at

being where I'm at

what I gain from being where I'm at

Day 3:

doing vs being

Day 4:

busy busy busy

Day 5:

pieces vs wholes

Day 6:

this or that

here or there

now or then

Day 7:

centering

In summarizing, #1 and #4 were about the process per se, while the others were elaborations and clarifications of dialog we had during the original WH experiment. They all seemed to point toward the idea of Centering, in contrast to linear cause-effect. Here are my verbatim notes about Centering from this morning:

Centering means finding the place where all dimensions spread out equally from where I am in the moment. Everything becomes equally important, or unimportant. Focus is not disrupted by disturbance, and mindfulness can explore any avenue with equal involvement.

I was very pleased by how much insight showed up in such brief, even hurried, moments, and look forward to the coming months of sharing.
