Piet's Monthly Summary

Working with the working hypothesis these last four weeks took on different flavors, from openness to non-happening to a freedom from identification with an actor. In each case, the radical nature of the wh made itself more and more felt.

Working with the wh has the nature of working with a koan, as one huge paradox. It is as if we are trying to count numbers, reaching larger and larger numbers, while trying to reach infinity. And of course, that never works.

As long as working with the wh is a form of activity or process, any type of addition, we are doomed. The one challenge is to find a way to switch to subtraction, to letting go, but in such a resolute and complete way that is completely unimaginable within our usual mindset.

Even the words I just used: challenge, to find, switch, all those still have the smell of activity sticking to them. Rather than running after a fleeting goal, we have to find a way to stop and let the goal find us.

The whole thing has the appearance of a fairy tale. And indeed, fairy tales are echoes of some very deep and primal intuitions about what reality is like.
